"When
they had crossed, Elijah
said to Elisha, 'Tell
me, what can I do for
you before I am taken
from you?'
'Let
me inherit a double
portion of your spirit.'
Elisha replied.
'You have asked a difficult
thing.' Elijah said.
'Yet if you see me when
I am taken from you,
it will be yours - otherwise
not'."
(2 Kings 2:9-10)
WHY
DO YOU ASK?
God's
strength and power is
not ours to give - it
is God who decides,
it is God who imparts.
It is not asked for
as the means to our
end, it is given so
that God may be glorified.
In
the Book of Acts in
the New Testament we
read of Simon who practiced
sorcery in the city
but was amazed as the
Philip the man of God
was preaching the Good
News and evil spirits
were coming out of people,
many were healed and
great joy spread throughout
Samaria (See Acts 8:4-25).
Simon became envious
of the power Philip
displayed and offered
money to receive it.
The Apostle Peter was
there as well and exclaimed,
"May your money
perish with you, because
you thought you could
buy the gift of God
with money!" Acts
8:20
If
God uses you, be thankful
but remain humble, it's
not anything you've
done, it is what you
will do that spreads
the Good News of His
love for the mankind
you come in contact
with.
Rejoice
in the Lord Always!
