"And
this is eternal life,
that they may know You,
the only true God and
Jesus Christ whom you
have sent."
(John 17:3)
ETERNAL
LIFE
Eternal
life? Have you ever
thought about it?
For
those who are young,
you go through life
invincible and immortal,
probably never even
considering the end
of your life.
For
us who are older and
have passed the halfway
point of the predicted
life span, you start
to feel more pains in
the body and gravity
plays a major role in
the make up of the physical
body. For those in the
twilight years, it seems
that funerals are the
more prevalent meeting
place.
We
move on time, we move
in a line as surely
as we read from left
to right. So what is
eternal life? Can we
even comprehend it?
Do we believe that we're
on a line extending
to the future with no
end in sight? Do we
come off that line leaving
the static behind? I
believe for the Christian,
eternal life is simply
being surrounded by
the presence and glory
of God...forever!
I
cannot fathom eternity
in my finite mind but
I do understand that
for those who don't
know Christ as Savior,
eternity is being forever
separated from the One
who created you and
loves you. God cannot
and will not be touched
by sin and without Christ
standing in the gap
for you, the ron-believer
is alone and separated
from God's grace and
mercy.
So
how do you experience
eternal life with God
you ask? The Bible explains
we must confess our
sins to God ask for
His forgiveness and
admit we need a Savior.
Then Jesus Himself will
live within your heart
and eternity with God
begins.
"And
this is eternal life,
that they may know You,
the only true God, and
Jesus Christ whom You
have sent."
"Then
I saw a new heaven and
a new earth, for the
first heaven and the
first earth had passed
away, and there was
no longer any sea. I
saw the Holy City, the
New Jerusalem, coming
down out of heaven from
God, prepared as a bride
beautifully dressed
for her husband. And
I heard a loud voice
from the throne saying,
'Now the dwelling of
God is with men, and
He will live with them.
They will be His people,
and God Himself will
be with them and be
their God. He will wipe
every tear from their
eyes. There will be
no more death or mourning
or crying or pain, for
the old order of things
has passed away.' Revelation
21:1-4".
Rejoice
in the Lord Always!
