"No,
we don't know, Lord,"
Thomas said. "We
haven't any idea where
You are going, so how
can we know the way.'"
(John 14:5)
DON'T
YOU GET IT
I
like Thomas, he is labeled
by many as 'Doubting
Thomas' because he always
required physical confirmation
to build up his faith,
but there is a little
of Thomas in all of
us.
Think
back to the days of
Moses-God just performed
10 miracles releasing
the Israelites from
Egyptian bondage dating
back 400 years yet they
are ready to stone Moses
when Pharaohs armed
chariots approached
them as their backs
where against the Red
Sea wall. Even when
God opened the sea before
them and they walked
across on dry ground,
then drowned the offending
army who chased after
them, three days later
more bitter complaining
of not having water.
"Where
is God?" We all
cry when hard times
hit. "If He really
loved us why does He
let us suffer?".
.
Jesus answered Thomas
as He answers all of
us on finding answers
to our life and existence
questions
"I
AM THE WAY, THE TRUTH
AND THE LIFE."
V6
He
doesn't leave us in
doubt, the doubt is
what creeps in when
we forget what He plainly
told us. The doubt sweeps
in when our circumstances
erase our memories,
or better yet, overrides
our memories as if circumstances
infect us with a virus
that corrupts our internal
hard drive. We are injected
with a half truth that
is no truth at all.
Phillip
says to Jesus, "Lord,
show us the Father and
we will be satisfied."V8
and I can almost hear
the exasperation in
Jesus' reply, "Phillip,
don't you even yet know
who I am after all the
time I have been with
you?" V9
'Don't you get it?'
is my paraphrase and
it's directed at me
more than anyone. How
many times does God
have to prove Himself?
I
guess it's another testimony
of His love for me because
He daily reveals His
love to me just with
each new breath, He
grants His marvelous
grace with every next
heartbeat.
Lord,
I get it!
Rejoice
in the Lord Always!
